Swat hosts colourful festivals year-round, from spring blossom celebrations to winter snow festivals at Malam Jabba.
Every March and April, KPK Tourism organises celebrations across the apricot, peach and apple orchards of Lower Swat. Villages from Saidu Sharif to Khwazakhela are draped in pink and white blossoms.
Highlights include cultural music nights, Pashto poetry readings, traditional Attan dance performances and food stalls serving regional specialities like chapli kabab, trout fish and Kashmiri chai.

Held every July or August at Saidu Sharif and Mingora, the Swat Cultural Festival brings together folk musicians, rabab players, calligraphers and master craftsmen from across KPK.
Stalls showcase Pashtun handicrafts, traditional Patti shawls, Swati embroidery, walnut wood furniture and locally mined emeralds. Evening concerts feature legends of Pashto music.

Pakistan's premier winter sports event. Skiing and snowboarding competitions, ice carving, snow polo demonstrations and a cosy bonfire night at the Pearl Continental.
International skiers from Iran, Turkey, Korea and Europe have started attending, making it the most internationally exposed event in the valley.

The bazaars of Mingora, Madyan and Bahrain become electric in the days before Eid. Mehndi stalls, bangle sellers, sweet shops and ice-cream parlours stay open until midnight.
On the day of Eid itself, families dress in new shalwar kameez, visit the Wadudia Hall and Saidu Park, and exchange Eidi (gift money) with children.

Independence Day (14 August): parades and flag-hoisting ceremonies in Mingora.
Iqbal Day (9 November): cultural and literary programmes at Jahanzeb College.
Pashto Mushaira (autumn): traditional poetry gatherings at Saidu Sharif.
Honey Festival (June): the beekeepers of Bahrain showcase fresh mountain honey varieties.
Usually late January or early February. Exact dates vary year to year; check the KPK Tourism website or Pearl Continental Malam Jabba for the latest schedule.
